Talking the Walk: Bridging the Communication Gap

Communication builds the connections that make better teams, companies and communities, yet it remains an elusive skill. This two-day workshop gave participants practical tools to communicate more effectively.
It started with self-awareness: values, defence mechanisms, stress triggers and how they affect us. It then looked at how our emotional state shows in the way we communicate, especially in moments of stress and conflict, and at the gap between the message we mean and the one we send. Finally, participants practised tools for better conversations: tone, language, deep listening and questioning, with modelled examples.
Each module followed three steps: a pre-read with exercises, two days of teaching from 8.30 am to 5.30 pm with group exercises and group coaching, and a development goal agreed with a supervisor afterwards, so the learning lasted beyond the room.
